Excessive yawning is what happens more than once per minute, and although people yawn due to several reasons such as feeling sleepy or bored, excessive yawning may be a symptom of an underlying health problem behind it.



 The exact cause of excessive yawning is not known, but according to The Health professionals, it may be caused by several factors, including:


 Feeling tired or sleepy

 When a person feels tired or sleepy, it is normal for him to yawn, and although the main cause is not known, yawning when feeling tired is a normal phenomenon.


 Disturbances that lead to lack of sleep

 Lack of sleep can lead to a person yawning a lot during waking, and this is a sign from the brain that indicates a feeling of difficulty and the need for rest, and although the lifestyle may be one of the reasons for the lack of sleep, other problems can arise from the underlying causes also of excessive yawning.  During the day, such as sleep apnea or insomnia.


 Take certain medications

 It can make a person want to sleep, which leads to excessive yawning, and these drugs include: selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, antihistamines (medicines that treat allergies), and other antibiotics and analgesics.


 Epilepsy

 A condition that occurs due to permanent brain damage, causing irritation in the area after that, and the person suffering from epileptic seizures, and this irritation later causes the brain to send signals that in some cases can be in the form of yawning. It is worth noting that this symptom is a rare symptom, and if a person suffers  of the problem, it is better to do a full analysis.


 According to a previous study, yawning can be linked to a number of brain diseases, and it can be seen in patients with this disease or after a seizure.


 Brain tumor or stroke

 The two issues are also cases in which the brain sends abnormal signals and includes excessive yawning, and according to a study published in the journal Neuroscience, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, scientists have found that excessive yawning is a symptom experienced by patients suffering from brain wounds.


 Multiple Sclerosis

 According to a study published in the journal "Sleep Medicine", patients who suffer from multiple sclerosis often have prolonged outbreaks of yawning and sleep problems, and also suffer from the thermal adaptive function that leads to outbreaks of yawning.


 Liver failure

 Excessive yawning is a harmless symptom of the last stage of liver failure.
